We All Lost In The 2016 Election

The media reaction to the release of the Mueller report gave us only one question we should be concerned with. Who is controlling the narrative? With Trump and many Republicans more concerned with whether criminal charges will be filed, hopefully, the Democrats will be more interested in protecting the integrity of the election process than receiving their pound of flesh. At least for now.

From the Democratic party point of view, the frustration and anger over the last two years are understandable. If a report came out in 2010 showing that a foreign government was using social media names like @TEN_DEMOCRAT to influence the election, the GOP would be incensed and might have been calling for the dissolution of the democratic party for treason. The release of the report should be a call to action for any person or organization that appears in Mueller’s findings to ensure no foreign power can use them again, willingly or unwillingly.

Just the single fact that Russia wanted Trump as president and ran interference to get him elected, speaks volumes about controlling the narrative. And that seems to have been proven out at this very moment, when instead of railing against Russia, Trump is tweeting about vindication that does not actually emerge from this report.

One thing the report does show, and this should be the headline — Russia Influenced The 2016 Election. But nearly all of the portions of the Mueller report that pertain to the organization of the Russian led IRA is redacted — so until we see the full report what we get amounts to cliff-hangers.

Spin, lies and damage control should not be the narrative here. With another election cycle ramping up, let’s hope that the FBI, CIA, NSA and the other agencies in the alphabet soup are working with campaign and rally organizers, as well as Facebook and Twitter to ensure some veracity in the run-up to 2020.

Read the Mueller report for yourself.

Meanwhile, go get the report and read it. Draw your own conclusions and try not to let your chosen news outlet be the one to spoon feed you their version of events that already fit the narrative you’ve accepted. More importantly, don’t let a foreign government direct the narrative of this story any longer. If you want Trump impeached, fine, then post #ImpeachTrump alongside #ProtectOurElections. If you think Trump is the greatest thing since sliced bread, then post that alongside #ProtectOurElections as well.
